POLICE FLEET MECHANIC

The Swansea Police Department is currently seeking qualified candidates for a part-time Police Fleet
Mechanic. This position has the potential to lead to full-time employment.

The Mechanic is responsible for the provision of skilled and technical work in the maintenance, inspection, and
repair of department motor vehicles to ensure safe and effective working conditions. The employee is
required to perform all similar or related duties and some custodial and building maintenance duties.
Pay scale will range based on qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid Motor Vehicle’s Driver’s License
  • Minimum of five years of experience
  • ASE Certification preferred but not required.

Required Skills:

Perform maintenance and skilled mechanical work to ensure the proper working condition of town vehicles
and equipment; modify vehicles, maintain maintenance records and repairs to equipment and vehicles;
inspect vehicles prior to operation to ensure proper and safe working condition.; lubricate and otherwise
service the equipment in accordance with the department’s preventative maintenance program. Also, must
have general building maintenance knowledge.
