Swansea Police Warn Residents About EZDriveMA Texting Scam

The Swansea Police Department would like to warn residents of a recent text message-based scam called smishing. 📱🚨

There have been hundreds of reports of a text scammer requesting EZDrive Massachusetts customers pay a fee for unpaid tolls. This may easily be confused with MassDOT’s tolling program, EZDriveMA. If you receive a similar message-based scam, be sure to report it to the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation says that EZDriveMA will never request payment by text and that all links associated with EZDriveMA will include www.EZDriveMA.com.

In order to avoid being scammed, be sure to never share personal information over the phone, never respond to unknown numbers, do not click on hyperlinks, and report and block phone numbers that appear to be scams. Stay safe, Swansea!
