Closures will be Effective from 7-11 a.m. on Sunday
Chief Marc Haslam, on behalf of the Swansea Police Department, announces that several roads will be closed throughout the town this Sunday to accommodate the New England Harvest Half Marathon.
The New England Harvest Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, Oct. 10 from 7:30 a.m. until about noon. During the race, residents are advised to plan ahead and seek alternative routes due to numerous road closures throughout Swansea and Rehoboth.
The following roads throughout Swansea will be closed to traffic during the race:
-
Maple Avenue from Cousineau Drive to Wood Street
-
Wood Street from Maple Avenue to Reed Road
-
Vinnicum Road between Reed Road and Warhurst Avenue
- Warhurst Avenue spanning the entire length from Vinnicum Road into Rehoboth
Swansea and Rehoboth officers will be stationed throughout the route to assist with traffic detail.
Community members should note that local traffic may be allowed to pass depending on the runners’ locations, but that delays should be expected.
“We look forward to once again welcoming runners to the streets of Swansea for the upcoming New England Harvest Half Marathon,” Chief Haslam said. “On the day of the event, we urge residents to drive with extreme caution to avoid any potential off-course runners and the areas affected by the race route.”
